WHY CORK?

Why should we care about using cork? It is one of the most remarkable sustainable natural resources in the world, and remarkably useful. Every nine years or so, the bark of the tree is ready for careful generations of harvesters to hand-cut, leaving the rest of the tree intact.

As the bark regrows, it also incorporates a great deal of atmospheric carbon and cleans the earth’s air significantly in 7.4 million acres—11,600 square miles—of oak trees. Around the northern and southern countries of the Mediterranean, the cork tree grows in abundance and supplies manufacturers with opportunities to create far more than just bottle stoppers.
